Chase - There are 2 versions of chase training. Basic chase training where Cadets will learn how to keep eyes on the suspects and how to run parallels. They will also learn basic callouts. Advance chase training where Cadets will take all the training they learn in Basic and Pit training and attempt to chase a suspect. Cadets will put into practice spacing, and using the different positions they learn in the classroom.
Pit - Cadets will learn how to pit with this training. They will learn what a safe speed is, and when to use pits. - Pitting should never be done at speeds higher than 100mph.
- To safely pit, you should aim for the back bumper of the suspect’s vehicle. Lightly push your car against theirs to spin them out. You should aim to make them spin 360 or at least higher than a 180. If you aim for a 180, let your fellow officers know so that they can turn around.
Negotiations - This is the first part of the Advanced Heist Training. Cadets will be put into different scenarios where they will have to show their understanding of how to handle scenes with Negotiations.
De Escalation - This is the second part of the Advanced Heist Training. Cadets will be put into different scenarios where they will have to keep scenes from becoming escalated and keep everyone safe.
Hostage Care - This is the last part of the Advanced Heist Training where Cadets will learn how to take Hostage statements and learn to prioritize their safety.
Arrest Policy - This will be a more advanced version of the MDT training. Cadets will learn how to arrest a suspect, when to use lethal force, when not to use lethal force, what charges to use based on the scene at the time, and how to fine and send someone to jail.
Traffic Stops - Cadets will learn how to pull someone over and give them a ticket based on speeding, reckless driving, or running through red lights.
When pulling over someone for speeding or reckless driving, make sure to use your sirens at all times. Park your car slightly so that you have cover in case the stop becomes escalated.
Ask the suspect to turn off their car, roll down their window, and put their hands where you can see them before proceeding to walk over.
Ask for their drivers license and verify their identity.
Go over the charges for the ticket and fine the driver. Make sure to write up a report of the stop!!!
First Aid - Cadets will receive basic first aid training as Officers are charged with helping citizens receive medical care when there is no EMS in the city. This means that they are able to take care of Scrapes and Bruises. They are required to transport them to Pillbox to see Dr John in the event there is no EMS.
Officers are also required to give basic care to citizens, suspects, and officers to keep them alive until EMS arrives on scene (Do not use a medkit, RP out that you are keeping pressure on wounds to keep them alive).
